コレクション: Stivenson Magloire (Haitian, 1963-1994)

Stivenson Magloire was born on August 16, 1963, in Pétion-Ville, Haiti, and died on October 9, 1994. He was the son of the Saint-Soleil painter, Louisiane Saint Fleurant, but he developed an independent artistic path. His work is expressionistic, often populated with enigmatic figures, birds, and symbolic elements that form a haunting, deeply personal visual language. Unlike many artists of his generation, he did not formally join the Saint-Soleil movement, opting instead for a more individual direction. Art historian Gérald Alexis noted this distinction, emphasizing Magloire’s independence within Haitian art. His paintings convey a powerful emotional intensity and a distinctive approach to form and symbolism. Magloire’s life ended tragically in 1994, when he was killed during a period of political unrest in Haiti. Despite his short career, his work is widely collected and held in major collections, including the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa. Today, Stivenson Magloire’s paintings are highly sought after by collectors for their rarity, expressive force, and unique place in Haitian contemporary art. Explore his available works below.
