Nehemy Jean (1931–2007) was a Haitian painter trained at the Centre d’Art under Dieudonné Cédor. In 1950, he became a founding member of the Foyer des Arts Plastiques, part of a group of artists who expanded the direction of modern Haitian art. He further developed his technique with V. Pierre-Noël and Georges Ramponeau, and studied portraiture in New York under R. Brackman and B. Klonis. Upon returning to Haiti, he helped establish the Brochette Art Gallery and later founded L’Atelier Gallery. Nehemy exhibited internationally in the United States, Europe, and Suriname, and his work is held in numerous private collections. His paintings are appreciated for their technical refinement and contribution to modern Haitian painting. Explore available works below.
